A 4-hour workshop titled, “Training of Trainers” was held at TRC on 9 February 2009, for in-house workshop leaders and selected members of the TRC resource pool. This was a pro bono workshop led by Shahbaz Ali Baig. The session, though short, proved to be informative and interesting. Useful tips on making effective presentations and fielding tough questions were found to be useful. The interpersonal skills of the workshop leader,  created a congenial atmosphere. On January 31, 2009, TRC was represented by Nida Alavi at an Open House event for parents and educators at Jaffar Public School. Guests were invited by JPS students to travel back in time, and learn about the origin of mankind through an epic journey that was designed chronologically to take guests from prehistoric times, through the ancient civilizations, arriving in more modern times. Each period was portrayed through interactive exhibits full of theatrical role plays, artifacts, vivid displays and even some conversation in different languages.

ama Parsi School requested a presentation on our Learning Resources at their premises, after school hours. On 26 January 2009, TRC’s Sadiya Azeem presented the resources to 25 teachers of the primary section. The teachers explored the different materials in groups, and were given detailed information about the use and value of each item. The teachers viewed the training videos and showed interest in the background information about the making of the videos. Strong Foundations, the Teacher’s Guide to the National ECE Curriculum, was much appreciated by them and the activities in the Pehla Taleemi Basta were thoroughly examined. Following the visit, the school placed orders for Strong Foundations in both English and Urdu and also the bi- lingual, interactive CD-ROM titled ” Nurturing Creativity in Young Children

TRC has actively contributed to the research initiatives of the Releasing Confidence & Creativity (popularly known as RCC) programme, which is funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy and is managed by the AKF. In this connection, TRC participated in two workshops conducted by Sadaf Shallwani from AKF Geneva. The first workshop was on 01 December 2008, and the second from 23-24 January 2009. One of the exercises which is being undertaken is the adaptation of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale popularly known as ECERS – Revised and ECERS-Extension, an international tool used for programme evaluation, self-assessment and research in ECE.
