Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • review the importance and effects of a curriculum on school life
  • analyse the essential elements of a curriculum – breadth, balance, relevance, differentiation and continuity and porgression
  • develop awareness of different perspectives of the curriculum
  • examine the role of language across curriculum
  • synethesise their school’s culture to decide about their own role in implementation of the curriculum
  • reflect on the pros and cons of a centralised curriculum planning and teacher autonomy in curriculum planning
  • develop an awareness of the 3 models of curriculum development
  • compare two approaches to curriculum i.e. school centered vs. student centered
  • relate areas of experience to areas of learning and design a lesson plan

Workshop Leader

Ms. Romana Shaikh holds a Masters degree in Education and is an accredited Teacher Trainer from University of Bradford as well as St. Marks and The College of St. Mark and St. John’s (Marjon) UK. She brings with her vast experience in the field of education in areas such has training of trainers, teacher education, curriculum designing and use of IT in education.
