A science project is an experiment, a demonstration, a research effort, a collection of scientific items, or display of scientific apparatus presented for viewing. It provides an opportunity to represent the efforts of a student’s investigation into some area of interest and to share the results of those investigations.

Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • learn how to help students conduct an independent Science project by posing questions and finding answers
  • enable students to gather needed information through individual and group investigation
  • plan activities to apply the processes of science (example: the scientific method)
  • explore ways to guide students to identify needed resources and know where to find them
  • identify strategies to develop communication, cooperation and critical thinking skills in students

Workshop Leader

Ms. Saman Ali Jafri holds a masters degree in Biochemistry and brings with her 10 years of experience in teaching senior students as well as in the professional development of teachers. During her career in education, she has also participated in science exhibitions, projects and other science related activities. Currently she is teaching O Level Chemistry and is also the Dean of the Chemistry Department since 6 years at The Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School.
