Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • reflect on current practices of teaching and learning history in the primary classroom
  • become familiar with the concept of historical thinking
  • understand the major themes (time, causation, change) and their role in contributing towards students’ historical understanding
  • analyse issues associated with teaching history
  • explore strategies for teaching history creatively
  • design activity based lesson plans on various topics of history

Workshop Leader

Ms. Sukaina Bhojani Ali Wali holds double Masters degrees, one in Philosophy from University of Cambridge (UK) and the other in Education from The Aga Khan University with a specialization in Social Studies. Her work experience in Pakistan and UK spans over 10 years, which includes teaching, curriculum development, monitoring and evaluation, and training of teachers.
