Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • identify the process of understanding text beyond word-level to comprehend the big picture
  • consider strategies to engage students in acquiring and using background knowledge, in order to sustain reading-writing connections
  • gain ideas to create meaning through effective interaction between reader, text and context

Ms. Rakia Rizwan brings with her vast experience in conducting teacher-training workshops and has been associated with The City School and The Educators since 1997. She has also worked as Academic Coordinator and been a part of Intel Teach to the Future – Portfolio Assessment Project since 2007. At present she holds the position of Principal at one of the branches of the The Smart School (A Project of The City School)
