Writing is a critical aspect of the teaching process. It can be challenging for some educators to put down their thoughts on paper, no matter what format or occasion they need to use. This workshop will address common problems that teachers face and share ideas on processes that will help improve their writing skills.

Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • explore the different types of professional writing teachers have to do
  • evaluate different types of writing
  • complete short in-class writing assignments
  • learn strategies to help them write more effectively for both internal and external audiences of a school

Workshop Leader
Ms. Shahrezad Samiuddin is a journalist with a special interest in traditional and new media. She has written features pieces in Dawn on various issues, including on the media. For almost a decade, Shahrezad has been writing the Auntie Agni column in Dawn. She writes on a variety of subjects for Aurora, the Express Tribune, The Herald (Dawn group) and The Indian Express. She has also co-authored a book on Pakistan for young readers called, Pakistan: Castle with a Thousand Doors. She is currently Communication Head at Teachers’ Resource Centre.
