Project work in Science can be used as a support programme to reinforce the learning of scientific concepts and their application in the child’s daily life. It makes children aware of the delicate balance of nature in their local environment. This workshop will provide ideas to use science studies as topics for project work and promote thinking and communication skills among the students.

Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • learn how to help students conduct an independent research project
  • provide students with an opportunity to study a topic they are interested in
  • identify current trends and issues related to out-of-school science events and competitions
  • plan activities to apply the scientific method
  • explore ways to promote communication and critical thinking skills in students
  • share experiences in planning, organizing and evaluating science projects

Workshop Leader

Ms. Saman Ali Jafri holds a masters degree in Biochemistry and brings with her 8 years of experience in teaching senior students as well as in the professional development of teachers. During her career in education, she has also participated in science exhibitions, projects and other science related activities. Currently she is teaching O Level Chemistry at The Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School.
