Children learn in a variety of ways, and teachers need to be able to cater to their learning differences. Stories have the ability to capture the emotional interest of students, and relate theoretical concepts with real life scenarios. Similarly, art is a diverse field that offers innumerable learning opportunities for children. This short course will explore the various ways in which art and storytelling can be integrated in children’s classroom learning experiences to promote creativity and critical thinking.

Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • understand the concept and importance of art in the child’s holistic development
  • explore the different strategies through which art can be integrated into the various learning areas
  • discuss the concept and various benefits of storytelling
  • learn about the different factors that ensure an effective storytelling session
  • identify the link between art, storytelling and critical thinking

Workshop Leader
Ms. Bazla Gul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from SZABIST and a certificate in Early Childhood and Development from TRC. She brings with her 3 years of experience in the field of education. Currently, she is a member of the Early Childhood Education team at TRC, and is working in the capacity of Coordinator, Early Childhood Education and Development Programme.
