For a growing number of educators, the role that schools play in encouraging or stifling the search for understanding is far more important than questions regarding achievement as measured by test scores. This workshop will focus on ways that will enable teachers to empower children to ask their own questions, seek their own answers and challenge them to understand the complex world around them.

Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • reflect on the current practices in the field of education
  • learn ways of teaching children how to think by understanding factors which influence thinking, role of problem solving and intuition in the thinking process
  • study the role of constructivism in helping children to become thinkers
  • understand guiding principles of constructivist classrooms which encourage thinking

Workshop Leader

Ms. Munira Nadeem has a Masters degree in Mass Communication from the University of Karachi with first class first position. She is a trained public speaker who worked for Pakistan Television Karachi Center as compare of youth and student programmes for ten years. She first started teaching at the department of Mass Communication and then at Haque Academy, where she is currently serving as the Academic & Administrative Coordinator for Grades 4-6. She is involved in teacher training programmes on a variety of topics and subject areas.
