This 24-hr course will focus on the selection, value and meaningful use of books as a medium for learning across the curriculum.

	Objectives Through this course, participants will: understand the importance of literature for children develop guidelines for the selection of quality books for children become aware of influences on readers’ interests appreciate the broad spectrum of genres within childrens’ literature explore ideas for sharing literature with children discover a variety of methods for extending children’s understanding of literature
	Who Should Attend Pre-Primary & Primary Teachers
	Workshop Leader Ms. Nida Alavi has an M.Ed in Special Education from Peabody College, Vanderbilt University and a B.A. degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, USA, where she majored in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. Nida has worked extensively with young children in the US and Pakistan. She is a member of the TRC team and IECE faculty.
