Objectives

Through this workshop, participants will:

  • understand ways to prepare school and classroom for inclusion
  • use PEO model (person-environment-occupation) to identify issues/difficulties with children/class and plan strategies
  • learn about the multi sensory approach and strategies that facilitate inclusion and understand the impact of these strategies on students’ learning
  • demonstrate the use of some strategies learnt to attend to a specific challenge

Workshop Leader
Dr. Debbie Kramer-Roy is a Dutch Occupational Therapist, who has worked in the UK (18 years) and Pakistan (9 years) for most of her career so far. In Pakistan she has worked with disabled children and their families in low-income communities, and later worked as faculty member at the AKU-IED, developing the Inclusive Education programme. Debbie’s PhD research consisted of a Participatory Action Research study, exploring the support needs of Pakistani families with disabled children in the UK. Debbie is currently a faculty member of the Occupational Therapy division at Brunel University London. She leads an Action Research project in partnership with the Occupational Therapy School at Dow University of Health Sciences and The AMI School, Karachi.
