Chak De! IndiaChak_De_India

A Yash Chopra film, produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Shimit Amin,
Chak De India starring Shahrukh Khan, was a super hit which won several awards.

Most of you must have seen this film, so why did we select Chak De for the TRC Film Club? and more importantly, Why should you attend?

Chak De is full of situations and emotions our students experience everyday in our classrooms and playgrounds. Following the film, we will discuss issues we grapple with on a day to day basis: honesty, sincerity, integrity, different teaching styles, diverse backgrounds, competition, winning and losing, team work, working towards a common goal. These are issues young people really want to talk about, more than the physics, chemistry and literature they have to discuss to pass an exam.

Join us and share your views with other interested educators who want to make education more meaningful for their students. It is only through dialogue and discussion that we can clarify our own understanding about the educational, social and emotional needs of young people in our care.

Synopsis of Chak De

Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) knows what it’s like to come back from the dead. The ex Indian Captain has now come back in the avatar of the Coach of the Indian Women’s National Hockey team. A team that exists more on paper and less in reality. The team is a bunch of girls with their own agenda. They have forgotten what it is like to play for the love of the game. Of playing because you want glory for your country. They have all forgotten the sharp thrill of just holding the hockey stick, keeping their eyes on the ball and playing for all they are worth.

We can all relate to this … and so will your students. What’s more, you can learn from TRC how to organise and hold a discussion for your students, following the film.
